EL VEZ IS COMING TO TOWN.
El Vez, the Mexican Elvis.
El Vez, the rockabilly reject that started his own cult of which I could only dream of being a member.
Missed the September show at the Belly Up, but he's coming to the Casbah on Dec. 22 with Rookie Card. Should be one of the best if not THE best holiday shows EVER.
Yeah, I'm a little hooked on El Vez. Started out as kind of a novelty act that you would see at street scene every year and just laugh your head off, but now has become somewhat of a demagogue of Elvisness. I remember my roomate and I in Santa Cruz watching TV and seeing an ad for one of his albums...SO random.
A big stage production with a full band, 3 backup singers and costume changes at the Casbah? Don't get me started.
And you can buy a lock of his hair for only $3.
See you at the Casbah.
