eddie is going.
I can't get anything done today, there's a live webcast of the Eddie Aikau invitational at Waimea Bay by Quicksilver.
It's gone down to maybe 18-22 ft., but some of the waves this morning were a good 30 foot. Pretty insane.
This is one of the few contests where they will NOT run it if the waves don't get above 20'. They have a waiting period that lasts about the month of December and the beginning of January. They run it pretty much from sunup to sundown on one day, something like 35 competitors, sent out in small heats. Best 4 waves are scored.
I remember when they didn't hold the contest for 9 years straight since it never got big enough. It didn't run last year but it was a close one.
I'm so glad I'm a surfer. Otherwise I'd be working all day.
