random thought...

Rhiannon and I are driving home one night and we see a hot chick jogging with her dog. Rhiannon says, "hey puppy, you mind if I pet your lady?"

I have the best fiance EVER.

bloganimity

i just got busted today for using someone's real name in a post on their blog...and I was thinking wtf?!?! what's wrong with that? then my comment got deleted...this whole great idea on how to stalk someone effectively and then get them to notice you (in a good way, not like killing their neighbor's dog).

i've been writing crap on the internet in one form or another for at least 13 years (old IRC and BBS) and never worried about my real name getting out. Then I started to think about it though, and back then it didn't matter if your name got out...the person sitting next to you at work, the random idiot at the bar, your parents are ALL online. Do a Google search for a name and it's pretty likely something will come up. For example...Google results for "Zachary Good" (ones that are actually me)

And then, there's the incorrect results, so you can't jump to conclusions....

So that was a bit of a narcissistic digression, but a good waste of time.

Anyway, there's a new climate on the internet that I had totally ignored, probably since I never got into the livejournal thing and before this blog the only consistent things I ever posted were an old travel mailing list from when I was in europe and, of course, the old Underbelly: San Diego Dive Bars site, both were pretty much just viewed by my friends.

The internet used to be something that was fairly difficult for most people to publish content on, so nobody expected their next door neighbor to have a website. Now, however, everyone is expected to have a blog, a myspace page, friendster, whatever. My grandmother has a computer and knows why aol sucks. Cyberspace is overflowing with information and content and, with the faceless aspect of it, makes it easier to anonymously express yourself. I always wondered why some people post such personal stuff on their websites and blogs, and i didn't even DAWN on me until today that they were posting as an anonymous alter ego.

So for anyone I've outed, I apologize.

I'm Zachary Good and I approved this message.
